Deutsche Bahn Introduces Passkey Logins

According to heise online, Deutsche Bahn has rolled out passkey-based login across its app and website, offering users a more secure and convenient authentication option. Customers can create passkeys through the “Login and Security” section in account settings, where multiple passkeys can be added, renamed, or deleted.

Once enabled, passkeys replace traditional password logins and bypass SMS-based two-factor authentication, which security experts have long criticised as vulnerable to interception. Instead, passkeys rely on cryptographic keys stored on a user’s device and are typically unlocked using biometrics or a PIN.
