Leaked technical files show that China may be practicing cyberattacks on the critical infrastructure of its neighboring countries through a secret training platform. The materials examined disclose a system named Expedition Cloud, which is intended to map out the power, energy transmission, transportation, and smart infrastructure networks in the South China Sea and Indochina regions.
Instead of being a standard cyber exercise, the platform is a weapon, only tool that assesses the performance of recon and attack teams without the presence of defense scenarios.
The documents featuring source code and training materials reveal the preparation of state sponsored cyber operations even before the actual attacks, thus raising the issue of regional cyber stability.
